Canine Dry Needling
Canine dry needling is extremely effective at decreasing muscle tightness. It increases the blood flow and reduce pain almost immediately.
Dry needling is not Acupuncture.
Dry needling focuses on stimulating the affected muscles to get them to release. This is achieved by inserting a sterile, very fine needle into the muscle.
It is aimed at myofascial trigger points which are hyperirritable spots in skeletal muscle that are associated with a hypersensitive palpable nodule in a taut band (muscle knots).
Pain caused by trigger points is due to a lack of oxygen and decreased blood flow within the trigger point.
Trigger points can spontaneously trigger local or referred pain. They cause muscle weakness and restrict the range of motion.
Inserting the needle into the muscle increases muscle blood flow and oxygenation.
Dry needling has been shown to be beneficial for the management of strains, osteoarthritis, and tendinopathies.
Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine that is based on channel theory and uses certain points in the body to heal the body naturally flow, balancing the flow of energy or life force — known as chi or qi (chee) meridians.

Canine Hydrotherapy
The buoyancy of the water reduces the weight going through the limbs and makes movement easier.
Resistance is greater in the water compared to walking on land. It creates a cushioning effect on submerged limbs which makes movement harder, this helps to increase and rebuild muscle mass, which may have been lost due to injury or illness.
The underwater treadmill is set to 28 degrees Celsius. The warmth of the water helps to reduce swelling and inflammation, increases blood flow and increases muscle relaxation.
