Frequently Asked Questions
Does my vet have to refer me?
We do require a confirmation from your vet that your dog is fit enough to be treated and does not have any conditions that may adversely affect the dog in the water.
Are all breeds of dogs suited to hydrotherapy?
There are certain types of dogs who enjoy the water more than others, however, I am equipped to deal with all shapes and sizes, from a Yorkshire Terrier to a Great Dane.
How long is each session?
The initial session will go for about an hour. During this time your pet’s condition is assessed and an individualized rehabilitation program is created.
After your pet’s assessment, they will then have their first session on the treadmill. To start we take things slowly to make sure they are comfortable and confident in the water. As their sessions go on the aim is to increase the time and or speed spent on the treadmills to increase muscle mass and stamina.
Session times vary depending on each dog’s needs.
